My 16v doesn't have this problem.. between having the close ratio tranny and
ultra short final drive, and having a 2-liter w/2-liter head (i.e. built for
more low end for the heavier cars), I've got stump-pulling torque from about
1k on up!  Vroooooooooooooooooooom!!
