I have replaced many windsheilds and removed them as well. what you need to
do is get a good  sized knife or a boxknife and cut the seal all the way
around the outer and inner perimeter of the glass. Then, CAREFULLY pull the
seal remnants out of the cavity. Then, gently apply pressure to the glass
from the inside of the car until the glass is free. Scrape the entire
windsheild of all residue and dirt and shit. Then you are going to want to
install it right? Let me know when you get there. This particular part is
very difficult and if you don't feel confident about it then have a pro do
it. If you do; let me know. :-)
  There are 3 rules to installing and removing a windsheild: 1. Don't hurry
2. Don't have help (except maybe observers and moral support) 3. Don't force
it. If you follow these rules then it should be cake. HTH
