RE: Re: Radiator Hose Question

Just remove the thermostat and it'll all come spewing out. You could also
disconnect one of the return hoses that go directly into the waterpump
as well as the lower radiator hose. I've found this to be very messy
though and it gets difficult to catch all of it for re-use. Dont forget
to turn the heater to the "Hot" position.

I was thinking of a neat way to make a "flusher"

1. get an old expansion tank cap from the junkyard.
2. make a hole in it so you can secure a garden hose to it. One of those
"quick connectors would be cool.
3. disconnect the lower radiator hose from the thermostat housing, put on
the "Flush Cap".
4. this is a questionable one- remove WP v-belt to allow WP to turn.
5. Turn on hose.

The water will flow down the main expansion tank hose and (mostly) into
the
water pump housing. There it can only return to the engine (if the WP
can't move, then it might have a tough time. Hence the removed belt)
>From the engine it flows through all the passages until it leaves out
the bottom of the radiator. By pinching off the hose at the water pump
that gets water from the heater core/expansion tank, you can also
back-flush the heater core.

All coolant passages are covered by this method.
