RE: 16V swap questions



NO NO NO you guys are whacked.

There is nor reason to go through the brain damage of swapping in the 
entire MkII harness in the MkI.

The 16V CIS-E harness and the Knock sensor harness is all you need.  Since 
they are already integrated it is really easy. There are only a couple 
wires that have to connect to the MkI fusebox, and one wire that must go to 
the starter and then a bunch of grounds that can go anywhere.

As for the dash I swapped in a MkII dash into my 78 years ago and it did 
require some splicing.  about an hour to figure out the diagram and another 
hour to splice it in.  And another hour to cut a huge hole in the steering 
column support for the speedo cable.  I did have some trouble with the a/c 
controls but that's another sad story altogether.
