All I have to say is stay away from Spax. A couple years ago, when I kept
up with the newsgroup, people used to recommend Spax as a cheaper
alternative to Bilstein/Tokico/Koni, although there were a few people (like
me) who advised against them because of first hand experience with failed
shocks and sagging springs. I checked the ng again for the first time in a
year or so last week, and all of a sudden complaints against Spax were
piling up like flies on shit. Everyone who bought Spax a couple years ago,
and recommended them based on their initial impressions (which are always
good - Spax are great for the first 6-12 months), was now dealing with
problems.

My recommendation is to either go high-end and buy Bilstein or Koni, or
save the money and get Boges, and be prepared to replace them every few
years.

HTH!
