This general topic makes the rounds on the mercedes list in a similar form:
 Are ML320's "real" Benz's since they are built by Alabamians?  It is
usually pointed out that the ones built in Stuttgart, Sindelfingen, and
Bremen are assembled by Turks.  I've not been to the Wolfsburg factory, but
have taken the tour at Karmann in Osnabrueck.  The guys on the line were
not speaking German.  Final assembly point, or the nationality of the
assembler, are not that relevant.
