this would cut the surface area of your filter by half.  bad idea.  the
reason the filter is so big is that it needs LOTS of surface area to
avoid being a bottle neck for the rest of the induction system.  ever
look at a normal paper filter?  they are all folded up like an
accordion, if you were to stretch it out you'd have maybe 30 feet of
filter material.  i see what you want to do, but it just won't work...
