Re: The roc's burning gas too fast...

Window stickers are BS. No relation to real world.

The Cabriolets (1985&up) are heavier than Sciroccos (all). (2307 lbs for
an '88)

The earlier Rabbit convertibles may have been a little lighter than the
cabriolet - but not much.

On the highway you should be at least in the low 30s with a manual
tranny.

maybe the mixture is too rich??

I get 28-33 mpg in my Golf GT (9A 5spd) (1.8 10:1) 105hp

I get 32-38 mpg in my 1982 (wide ratio, 1.7 wet rag of a motor)

The worst I ever got was my 1975 with a Weber carb - it got 24-26 mpg in
city driving.

I've never seen 30mpg in my 87 Cabriolet with the automatic tranny or the
new (used) close-ratio tranny. I have the original window sticker and if
memory serves me correctly 25mpg was the optimum, should I be getting
much
better mileage with the close-ratio? Oxygen sensor was just replaced
about
1,000 miles ago. With the new transmission the mileage is slightly better
but still not 30mpg. Is the Cabriolet a lot heavier than the Scirocco? I
think mine is about 2200-2300lbs. Or are there other factors?
