What size 15" tires? If you have 195/50/15's, you'll be fine (the speedo should be
correct). If you have something bigger, like 205/50/15's, then your speedo will
read slightly slow. If your speedo is reading fast, it sounds like you have the
wrong speedo or transmission or something... huh. Maybe somebody put an 8v tranny
in your car? You could check the tranny code that's stamped on the bottom of the
bellhousing. If it's a 16v, it should be like an AGB or a 2Y, I think... (not
positive). Have you checked the odometer against the mile markers on the highway?
That's how I always check to see if my cars are reading correctly...

Is it your alternator? Are you belts slipping? Maybe your alternator bearings are
beginning to seize.. or sometimes I've seen water pumps make this noise. Actually,
if your A/C pulley is seizing, it could be that, too! (Hehe... it could be
ANYTHING)

Maybe the sprayer tip is blocked up... try clearing it out with a needle. You could
also pull the line off somewhere and see if fluid will spray out of the line when
you activate the washer... narrow it down.

Deal with it. It's an old VW. They squeak. (Maybe someone else will tell you
something different). Usually, in my cars, if a squeak really bothers me, I remove
the offending piece. It's usually not necessary anyway.

Good luck, HTH, and all that good stuff!
