Mine have no black paint, they're all alloy.  I do have a plain black 
plastic VW cap in the center.

It says Wolfsburg on it :)  Actually, there's a little badge on both 
front fenders behind the front wheel.  It's a model they sell 
with special deals on option packages.  They all say Karmann on the 
side posts (unless the glue dries out and the plastic falls off).  
Karmann (I think) was the guy who used to design the bodies, think 
he's dead now.  There's a lot of good places to read about stuff like 
that on the net, do a search for VW.  www.vw.com has some nice 
history stuff on it too.  I think it was someone else who did the 
Corrado and maybe Scirocco too.  I know that info's on the web 
somewhere.  If you can't find it, post to the list asking for info.  
Someone there will have the links.
