Well its A1 related so I think its cool.

The biggest factor in this being a successful swap is that you will have
the car right there to swap parts from! First, strip out all of the
wiring from the Rabbit. (well, not all of it. Remove the ignition and the
fuel system's.) Then just graph in the 16V stuff. I dunno, maybe you will
need to use the entire wiring harness? <CLUE?> The cool part is you got a
Scirocco 16V so the manifold is set for the swap.
he will probably want to get new motor mounts and at least replace the
seals on the 16V. (He may as well while its out!)

I think you either gotta have it, or you gotta use a header system.

You would be wrong to think you cant use a FF tranny. The only difference
is going to be the clutch disk! its got a larger input shaft on the FF
tranny than was in the original 16V tranny. Since the 16V is gonna have
the 210mm clutch, go ahead and but a 2.0L clutch for an 8V. Get that
flywheel machined and go to town. While he's at it (again) replace ALL
the seals in the tranny. (2 input shaft seals) I say, if your gonna do
it, do it right, DAMN IT! Its gonna coast a little more than you expected
but when your all done and its running, he will have lots of peace of
mind knowing NOTHING will go wrong, other than catastrophic internal
failures. right? :)

Naw, id rather use up bandwidth! <chomp-chomp>
Sounds like a cool project. How come nobody in San Deigo is ever doing a
cool conversion like this so *I* can help!
