One thing about the acceleration times might be that the european 16V was rated at 139HP.

have a cat the first years for shure. The real difference in comparing the engines is
probobly at high rpm were the european has more power. 0-100km/h is very close to 0-60mph
and 8seconds sounds fair. The 8V motor is listed for 8.6sec 0-100km/h in europe i think.
