the exhaust you have is the "dreaded stock manifold." if you're racing, use a
four to one header. if this is your daily driver, use the early four to two
manifold with TT downpipe. it won't crack and is a lot quieter. I mean *a
LOT.* yes, the iron manifold is heavier, but you won't feel the difference.
if weight is that important go for the gusto and trash your A/C, heating
system, remove the interior/ all sound deadening, etc. 

also, keep in mind that the Jetta II manifold you mentioned, will not fit.
you've got an A1 car not an A2.
