Airco on 86 model

I've considered mounting an airco on my 86 GTX (DX engine) since Europe seems to be getting warmer!
 
I see 3 possibilities for this:
 
1 - go to the VW dealer, get an original airco and pay a lot of money for poor service (I presume)
 
2 - go to a scrap yard and find a scrapped Scirocco/Golf/Passat with similar engine and airco
 
3 - find a 3rd party product.
 
No 1 is - I guess - just to expensive for such an old car.  No 2 (as probably with no. 1) has the terrible freon issue.
 
This means no. 3.  Unfortunately I have not come cross any 3rd party producs, and this is where I ask if any of you have any
experience with any airco kits that are easy to fit, reliable, not too expensive, environmentally friendly, and available here in
Europe (I live in Holland).
