scirocco dream (now subaru dream)

The bottom end and tranny is supposedly rock solid in that car but only up to 200hp I suppose. You can hit 200HP with NA bolt-ons without the complexity of adding a turbo with that inferior top-mount intercooler. That's the problem with that car. It's a fantastic car. I've had it since new and now it has 105k on it with almost zero troubles. Problem is every time I've looked into tuning it I've ran into a dead end. And it also seems the tuners don't support it very well just for that reason. If only they made a 2 door STI in that '99 body style, I'd be set. The new styles went hideously wrong as if they were taking styling cues from the early dodge neons.

That's why I had to buy the Scirocco. It's endlessly tunable and customizable. The Subaru is a kickass car but with a torque and HP curve as identicle as they are, the throttle is a little boring. Predictable but boring.

The Scirocco is also a money pit though.

Ahh, you're just hoping someone will steal the 2.5 RS engine so you can
drop the turbo boxer in from the STi...

Don't feel bad. I've had the same dream about my '99 Impreza RS...
