October is Alternator Month/Beer Turkey!!!

Yeah, so it figures a supercharged car would begin the trend early, Mr Lee
did this nonsense last month. Carrots was another belt tosser, I hear that
the Callaway has had charging issues, and Roger's car too... and finally on
the trip to H2Oi by way of Wilmington Ohio, my Klaus decided to produce the
ever popular scalded cat squeal from up front. NOT tires. So I hobbled him
home because I didn't have the right tools, and it would go away when not
at idle.
Fine...So I go out to correct the situation before the race today, and
yeah, typical. The REAL problem is that the bracket's sheared. Which you
all will say big deal about. But it IS a big deal. This is no ordinary
bracket, it's an "A1 specific to an ABA head" fab-tabulous deal. If you do
this ackbasswards blend (ABA head/JH block/big B3 rad), yeah, the stock
alt. bracket won't permit removal of number one sparkplug, so a custom job
is needed. So here I sit till my kid is sober enough to try a weldup. (and
I'm still needing to face the engine end of the bracket removal, I really
hope the timing belt can stay, but that is not certain by any means) I knew
something was up when I slacked off the Allen bolt at the bottom of the
alternator and it flopped forward into my hand. Denny's represent'n at the
track with the headache at least.
So here I sit with beer in my hand, turkey in the oven, and shotguns on the
deck, living the redneck lifestyle at its very finest. I am thankful on
this Thanksgiving day for having the car break here at home once again.
Gotta love a sunny October long weekend! Turkey's smelling good too!!
