How to fix car? Can't find a 16V Fuel Distributor

Ok, seems this isn't going to work. 16v Scirocco parts are hard to
find, and this part especially so, since it's different in the
scirocco compared with the other 16v's (the mechanic said it had 3
prongs on it, whatever that means).

Is there any other way of getting the 16v scirocco fixed, asssuming
only that I know (or was told by the mechanic) that the problem has
something to do with the fuel distributor? Maybe something that isn't
as easy as swapping a part, if finding the part isn't an option?

Just a shot in the dark here . . . anything I could do that would do
away with the original fuel distributor? I'm ignorant about SEM -
does this require the original fuel distributor? I'm not very
knowledgeable about cars, at least I wasn't prior to getting this
thing . . . the hundreds of hours I've spent reading about scirocco's
certainly has taught me a few things, but it's all random bits of
knowledge.. . and I don't know what most of the stuff I read means.

I have to get this beast going, it's got sentimental value to my dad,
and hence to me. What can I do?
