Changing shocks

I guess the snakes on a plane would be pretty boring if you deal with eels
on a daily basis.
Ugh!

I think that removing the springs without a compressor is maybe not a death
wish, just a mutilation wish!!
OTOH, consider that I can't compress the stock front spring enough to
reassemble everything and that I probably weigh close to twice what you do.
Last weekend it took two people to reassemble a front strut. This was with H
& R springs which have a much shorter free length than stock springs and can
actually be done without a spring compressor. One person (me) to apply his
gross tonnage, the other to center the shock shaft and get the nut started.
Please can we just skip the sexual innuendo of the above? There was more
than enough of that last weekend!

Anyway, I'd suggest you get a spring compressor. Also before you jump into
this with both feet you might want to see if you can loosen and turn the
lower rear shock bolt. On occasion they rust to the shock bushing and no
amount of impact wrench will free them. A cutting torch is usually required.

Just a heads up for a possible show stopper.
Dan
