ok DPR tool works for AMPS. What are these readings???

Ok here's one for you.... I drove my 86 Jetta GLI to work today and I had my
little DPR tool so when it takes it's next funky spill I'll be prepared.
I decided to show it to a coworker just for giggles and guess what. 0.00
Amps. Hmmmmm I check it wiggle the connections to make sure it's not
registering. It is getting something because when I pull a wire from the
DMM it drops idle alittle(but a little only) nothing really significant. So
I'm starting to suspect the little O2 sensor alittle more.

The OXS light has been on for awhile, but I figured I would eventually get
to replacing it when I convert it to MSI. I thought the Jetta had the
little reset switch like the rocco's that worked off the mileage. I didn't
see the little box on 1st inspection.

Does anyone know if they do? Think I"m gonna replace the O2 B4 I do the MS
conversion just to see if it improves performance.

Thanks
David

Yep, it's supposed to bounce up and down. You need to mentally average it.
If it wasn't bouncing there would be something wrong with your CIS, probably
the O2 sensor.
The Bentley has various tests showing what the current should be for various
conditions such as warmup, idling, WOT switch closed.

Ok Dan, Cathy n gang,
I turned it over to mA and tada!!!! I get a running car giving me signals.
Now what are they. 8-) At first when it was warming up it went to 0.00
Then after it got warm it started running around 5 and eventually up around
9. However it bounced around all over the place. When I say 5 it actually
bounced from 2-11, but it seemed 4,5 was the average number that came up
more. Then when it warmed up I got 2-15 with 8, 9 being and average number
up.

Is that normal? I'm assuming it is sending the bouncing numbers because the
O2 sensor is trying to adjust mixture?

Anyway the tool works! Thanks guys. Now I just gotta figure out how to use
it properly.

David
