RIP Clutch 87 Scirocco
Yes, the Callaway is an 8v. I consulted the Jedi Council, Master Obi-Dan
himself said that minus the disk, the rest of it would be a decent upgrade
to the Callaway. The shop had an 8v disk new for like 30. So I would be
using pressure plate and all that from the 16v kit.
In light of recent developments I got my kit back (as my car is still in
pieces) and I will use that for said clutch job to commence tommorow with
time blocked for the rest of the weekend (knowing me) And I will simply get
an 8v clutch kit for the Callaway in a week or two.
Thrust plate... gotcha... I still have to pull it apart so may as well do
the whole thing right? Engine off I can easily put the car in any gear.
A 16v disk I do have. Thanks for the offer.
What a pain that was. (towing) I didn't have the money (heck I still owe
Cathy) so I had to get permission for it to be put on my company card with
the understanding that I would pay it back asap. Then once here American
Express repeatedly denied the transaction saying that it wasn't authorized.
Of course by this point home office types are gone as they are the East
Coast... The damn driver wanted to put the car back on the rig and take it
back to BFE Washington. If I couldn't pay in a reasonable time it would go
to auction. Bastages one and all.
Speaking of which he said he had a 2000 Audi Quattro going to auction early
July. Expects maybe $300 for it. Car was HORRIBLY T-Boned. I think he
said there was a fatality--possibly the other driver I didn't really catch
the details. He said engine, tranny are fine. One of the rear wheels is
angled, it definately isn't something that can be repaired. I may have the
guys number or at least can get it from AMEX if anyone is interested. He
wants it to go to auction though, not sure if he would sell direct. Other
than the wheel and the fact that the drivers door is in the drivers seat
(also accordioned), he thinks someone could start it up and move it under
it's own power.
