Crushed Cars for Illegal Street racing

Okay, do NOT even get me going on this. Okay, too late. They have this
"Crush the evil imports for the press" thing here too. I do not street
race, though I would happily(?) accept any tickets I may earn when engaged
in "enthusiastic test driving", I deserve some likely. That's not a problem
for me, kidzzz can street race in anything they like, and if my students
are any indication, imports are not the real threat. Of my three classes,
I've had three kids hospitalized for bad rollovers, one a truck, one a van,
one an SUV. All three are really lucky to be alive. Not a modified import
among them. But there's no press in "getting those dangerous soccer mom
vehicles off the road".
Cars that have been "altered"? Yeah, I have a few. I think the Cabby's the
only one that doesn't qualify of nine with plates, and the tenth is a
potent street terror (the "speedThree"). Ironic that the "best candidate
for street racing" would escape the "alteration" ruling. The Speed's stock.
So yeah, I drag race at import events. And every year, the cops set up a
checkpoint on the way to the track, and hand out total bullshit tickets to
kids intende=ing to "take it to the track". Some incentive to drive two
hours to a real track that is. And these tickets are rediculous, one kid
got an "emissions violation" ticket on a car that has to pass Etest for its
plate. The reason for a ticket? His "Check engine" light was on, this
automatically means that he's got illegal exhaust i guess. Yeah, I am
serious. This poor kid had several hundred dollars of tickets for modified
tails and other bullshit stuff in addition to the CEL ticket. He can fight
them and win in court, but that's a day out of his life. It just pisses me
off. Arrest the kids who are being assholes on the road, (and take get some
of the dangerous old folks off the roads too), and maybe set up an
checkpoint on "outlaw class" dat too, yeah, you won't see that, those cars
are all modified too, but that's okay, it's Detroit iron. Voters like that
type of modified street rod. Okay, enough...rant delayed for a driving
session..
