Crushed Cars for Illegal Street racing

Coming in late here, I heard about this the other day and don't know all
the details on in, this point may have already been made on the list but
wouldn't this just cause more people to think about running from the
police if they are caught street racing, it's kind of raising the stakes
a lot more if they know their car will be crushed, and not just some
tickets.

They confiscated the VIN badge, from the dash, because it didn't match
the
car, and they didn't care, that I was just using the dash from the other
car, which I was told is also not legal.

Oh BS.  Like the cops are gonna care about a 20+ year old scirocco.  I
had
to get MK1 Marks silver 8v inspected buy the local pd prior to getting a
title (because prior title was in canada).  The only VINs that matched
were
the door jamb and firewall stamp.
Everything else was swapped in from a 98 jetta.  It took me all of 10
seconds to explain it away.
