External oil cooler, coolant hose replacement?

Hey all. I have a Volvo Turbo external oil cooler setup I'd like to
install. Once piece of information that I am missing from old
discussions is what to do about the coolant plumbing in a 16V (currently
with stock oil/water cooler to be removed).

Specifically, I'd like to know if I need to replace the heater bypass
pipe with one from any earlier non- oil/water cooler setup. I can see
two reasons for doing such:

1. The pipe on my car has the T to connect to the stock 16V oil/water
cooler. This outlet needs to not be there or otherwise capped such that
  coolant does not pee out.
2. The pipe on my specific car has some corrosion on the outside at a
bend near the oil cooler interface. Would be nice not to spring a leak
and not pee out of here too.

OTOH, I can see a few reasons to just leave well enough alone:

1. Scarcity of needed early-style pipe sans oil/water cooler interface.
  My local Euro-FLAPS claims NLA.
2. Ability to "Bolt-cap" by stuffing a bolt into stub of coolant hose at
this unneeded junction and hose-clamp a seal. (This would be cool to
make a quick-drain coolant change plug.)
3. Currently running non-corrosive waterless coolant - unlikely to rust
from inside heater pipe.
4. Huge PITA

Input encouraged, though I am definitely leaning toward keeping the
existing pipe.
