Was: Scirocco Spy Shots on Autoblog, Now: Vw Engineers I'd like to slap

In semi related news... filed under the Catagory "VW Engineers I'd
love to slap the shit out of" I replaced the H7's in my "headlights"
yesterday. (R32)

They make it harder than chinese arithmatic to get to... and then I
have something than can only be described a "pelican" case to get into
to actually get the bulbs out. Good idea but they hold it all
together with a friggin coathanger? Grr.

One side has an extra panel to remove and actually has less room than
the other. I don't get that. Why not make it universally stupid?

Bitch #2 about this...
I don't get WHY these headlight clusters work the way they do. MKIV I
guess are all the same I don't think the R32's are different. When
the car is running and I release the emergency brake, the larger of
the headlights come on. I can't override it or disable. If I turn
the headlights on, the friggin City Lights come on (and tails
obviously) So turning on the headlights in a low light condition
gives you NO additional light at all in front of the car. The Fog
lights are crap--the look cool but don't really shed additional light
in front of the car only the sides. What I would like to have is the
ability to turn on the city lights and OFF the main beams of the
headlights. It seems that the wires are reversed or something. Is
that what the "european" switch does for me?

Of course there is no place to mount additional driving lights or
anything. Not that I really want to--it would screw up the look, but
there aren't alot of options. I would be better off mounting some
offroad hella's on the roof rack. LOL I am kidding.
