OT: Looking for a new(er) ride

Well, after chores, I decided to run to town for errands. I had to get to
the homebrew store for wine making supplies... next Cincy: Tomato wine
(don't knock it until you try it). This is a new project for me, mostly
because I have a bumper crop of tomatoes (I am almost sick of eating them),
and I liked the Hot Sun tomato wine from the Florida Orange Grove Winery.
We will see how this adventure progresses :P

I also figured I might run by the VW dealership right near closing just to
peek more intensely at a Rabbit. Figured if time allowed I would run to the
Honda place, also, to look at a Fit.

So, my son and I pull in, and he HATES the color of the orange Farenheit GTI
(damned kids these days, just show him a red mini cooper with racing stripes
and it's OHHHHHH, that's cool). Anyway... I jump out to get a closer look
at the Rabbits (the shiny red one of course), and here comes a salesguy. I
say I am looking, do they have one decked out. No, they have to order, but
why do I want a Rabbit. I proceed to tell him about the Scirocco, and how I
want to keep it in the family and get better gas mileage than the Montero.
I show Mac the interior of the Farenheit GTI. The salesguy tries to get me
to the Jettas and Passats and I say how I don't care for them. He asked if
I would be interested in a pre-owned 2005 GTI for less than a new Rabbit.
Blah, blah, blah.

Next thing I know we are cruising down this twisty road in a platinum GTI.
Hmmmm, too much fun. Sunroof, leather interior, 6-disc CD changer and amp.
DAMMIT, I say.

So, the dealership is having a blowout, get it while its hot. DAMMIT! So,
I explain how (I think) my credit isn't great... He says come in, let's
look. Yada yada... My credit is actually pretty (maybe very) good :)

So, to end it all, there is a 2005 Platinum GTI (1.8T) , sunroof, leather,
and premium sound sitting outside with dealer plates. They sucked me in by
saying, leave the Montero, drive the GTI for the weekend, come back Monday
morning. I am seriously considering this purchase. The car is fast, but if
I can keep that under control, I may have a gas-saving machine. Did I
mention it goes fast? Gotta figure out if I can live with a car payment
(which is suprisingly less than I expected), and if I can afford the
inevitable speeding ticket (never had a ticket before).

Lexan <---maybe the GTI will make the Scirocco jealous and cooperate and
become driveable :)
