fuel n intake question

Maybe I'm dense, but if the pivot points and geometry are the same between the 8V and 16V then wouldn't they fundamentally be interchangeable?
I'm just talking about the sensor plate and pivot arm. The fuel distributor is clearly a completely different part.
As far as I know, with the exception of, IIRC, some late 70's early 80's cars (which had 60mm sensor plates) all the other 8V's and 16V's had 80mm sensor plates. If you're cursed with the 60mm you should definitely upgrade, but other than that there is no benefit to use 16V parts instead of 8V parts.
Also, bear in mind that the variation in AFR for various engine load and RPM points is largely determined by the shape of the cone that the sensor plate works within. I do know that I've seen variations in the shape of the cone over the years, but never got so curious that I catalogged the differences.
So, unless you have data indicating an improvement from switching, it's probably best to use the plate and sensor cone that were designed for your car.
Maybe some information on the specifics of what you're trying to accomplish would help.
Dan
