Brake conversion

Marc's points are all good.
As far as the brake lines, remember that on all Scirocco each brake circuit (front or rear portion of the MC) is connected to one front brake and the OPPOSITE side rear brake.
The reason is having the circuits setup one front one rear would give you about zero stopping power if you lost the front circuit and only the rears worked!!
Also it wouldn't do to have the circuits setup one for each side. In that case the car would swerve dramatically if it only had brakes on one side.
So, bearing all that crap in mind you need to keep the rear brakes separate and each rear brake line should have a 16V proportioning valve somewhere in the line. 8V's typically have the prop valves screwed into the MC. 16V's have one of the prop valves in the hydraulic line since it would interfere with the distributor on a 16V engine. Either location is fine depending on clearance.
I say you should use the 16V prop valve because it has a different part number and drum brakes are, to some extent, self activating where discs are not, so it makes sense to me that the proportioning ratios would be different.
So, I assume the rear discs need a different proportioning ratio and use the prop valves appropriate for that.

IIRC only on 16V 1987-1988 Sciroccos

Other A1s were using drums.

A nice upgrade is to used the Corrado G60 MC.

>It is equipped with a separate brake line to each wheel.Do I need to convert to a single line to the rear with a proportioning valve? What is the correct procedure to adjust the rear brake pressure?gauges or the sphincter method? The inquiring mind wants to know.
