Brazilian Head Question? (8V)

It seems pretty unlikely the car was built with a Brazilian head since all Sciroccos were made in Germany.
So the head would have been retrofitted.

Where is the coolant outlet? Between cylinders 1 & 2 or between 3 & 4?
I believe that all the heads pre-1.8 had the outlet between 1 & 2 and would be small valve non-hydraulic heads, but I could be wrong on this.
If it has the coolant outlet between 3 & 4 then it would be a later head which could be hydraulic or not, but that's easy to check because the hydraulic head only has 4 cam bearings.
The good news is the later heads had 38 or 40mm intake valves vs. the 34 of the early heads.
The bad news is if the head is hydraulic and the oil pump wasn't changed out you're probably running pretty low oil pressure.

Coolant outlet location and checking how many cam bearings it has will tell you hydraulic or not and give you a clue about valve size.

BTW, you heard the joke about Pres Bush being informed that 3 brazilian troops had been killed in Iraq?
After hanging his head in sorrow he finally looks up and asks, "How many is a brazilian?"
Hahahahahaha!
