16v w/ turbo

There are those who will save their dollars and just drop the car off at a
shop for a 1.8T conversion, that's another option, not one I'd be able to
do, but I'm sure it's been done many times. The two problems there being
the money part (but going fast will cost money no matter how you do it) and
the real problem is finding a shop that's not going to do a hack job on it.
The plus side of that is you could take it to any VW shop and they'd know
what it was (more or less) for diagnostics.
There's a book called "Maximium Boost" (by some publisher called Bentley,
LOL) that's suggested reading for those wanting turbo info. It covers a lot
of basics, and may not be a bad read for you anyway, since you are driving
a turbo'd car now!
