Anyone use a Dremel?

OMG I have a new tool on my "most wanted" list. :P

Thanks for that. I bet the 1/3 hp version could probably be used for porting heads even!

Never thought I would write this: Thanks Larry!

I had never heard of Foredom before and they make what appear to be some
great things. Their keep the motor separate from the hand piece system looks
like the way to go to prevent motor burn out.

Very old school stuff. It makes me think of how much better just about
anything is when compared to a Dremel. Marketing goes a long way, huh?

I agree with Al. An electric motor that is running at elevated temps is
under too much load for its size. Dremels are like 1/10,000hp (smilie), so
you have to keep the R's up and the loads down.

If you have a continuing need for a rotary tool, the best bet is a Foredom.
You can get these in 1/10 and in 1/4hp versions. They will cost several
hundred, but they are powerful, versatile, and durable...plus, the will
allow you to use 1/4", 1/8", and 3/32" shank tools in them, which means your
choice of tools is practically unlimited.

Running the dremel at low speeds and higher loads (loading down the bit,
resulting in higher current draw) will result in high heat levels. Al
