Timing help

No one has responded yet so I'll start this off and then the experts can
chime in with the official good stuff. If you are checking the timing through
the timing hole you might as well check the cam timing while you're at
it.With the crank shaft at TDC verify that the timing mark on the rear of
the cam gear is at the edge of the valve cover.(You would be looking at the
gear from the drivers side). The mark on the crankshaft pulley will be lined
up with the mark on the intermediate shaft pulley. The crank pulley mark will
be a notch in the edge of the pulley. The mark on the intermediate shaft
pulley will be a dot indentation on the passenger side.If this is lined up
and the Dist. is timed correctly the rotor will be pointing to the number
one spark plug wire position in the dist cap and there should be a
corresponding mark on the edge of the dist. lip.It may be just a indented
line on the lip.If all of that is line up and your ignition points are
adjusted correctly the timing should be correct.
I'm looking forward to meeting you in Cincy.
