New tanks only cost about $15 so these have both been new Meyle OEM,
one from parts4vws and the other autohaus az.  I replaced the original
tank (and cap) because it was brittle and yellowed after 30 years (but
not leaking).  The cap could be the problem.  Cooling system works
great, BTW.

Browsing Ebay you can find an assortment of people trying to sell
crappy looking USED ones for way more than $15.  It's funny when
people use the words "rare" or "collectable" to describe such items.
