woot, breaks/suspension done, now onto electrical

Finally got the scirocco (now named Tuyer) on all four wheels and put a
new battery in since I forgot to disconnect the old one and it has been
sitting for over a year. Now that the battery is in and everything is
plugged in where it was before, it won't start. Actually I don't seem to
be getting any current anywhere in the car (dome light, clock, lights).
I can short the starter with a screwdriver with the key in the on
position (and no key) and the starter will spin but that is all. I need
the car running by the end of next week or I'll have to register another
car for parking at school.
