Pacific Waterland Scirocco Update

Gordy,

That white MKI is unbelievable.  Simply stunning. We need more pics of that
car and some video if you ever get the chance again.

So it went down last Sunday in Portland, OR and it was a good first annual
event.  Probably 70 dubs there but only 3 sciroccos, all MK1 thank god:)
Really funny story though.
My back yard neighbor has has had a white MK1 rocco ever since I can
remember but he keeps it in the garage all the time.  I have never seen him
drive it but I have always admired it.  We have talked this summer after he
noticed, not hard to miss, flock of sciroccos in my driveway.  So on
Saturday on the way to the stereo store I saw he was in his driveway and I
stopped and gave him a flier for the show and filled him on the details.  So
the 3rd scirocco to show up was him.  I knew the car was bad to the bone but
I was finally able to peek at it in detail.
It is a 1980, original AC and engine.  I love the "scirocco " sticker on the
rear 1/4 panel and also the scirocco badge in the wood grain strip on the
dash above the glove box.  The 2 piece 15" BBS rims also are classic. Please
look at the photos.
The bronze metalic one was nice also.  Had little rust but was well taken
care of.  Mine would smoke both of them with their 1.6-1.7 engines but I
only got 3rd place in the show, out of 3 :)  Something to be said about the
clean original car.

I had a blast but sure wish there were more sciroccos there.  It was good
talking with the other 2 owners and I hope to meet more in the years to
come.
