9A block from Audi 88



Actually, putting a 16V head on an ABA is quite popular for the guys that want to build a turbo engine cheaply. Lower compression with the stock 8V pistons and they seem to be rugged enough for boost.
I can't think of any reason a 3A wouldn't be in the same boat.
