All .75 fifth gears fit a 4k?

I actually have no experience with the 4K tranny as mine was Quattro, but the swap I did on my Mk2 Jetta was with the old TD tranny and I've been told it was similar to FWD 4k's. The only other thing I had to change was the Clutch spline. It's smaller on the TD tranny then on the GLI tranny. I overcompensated by getting a stage 2 clutch which was fun, but completely unnecessary. I guess depending on what car it's going on, you might want to make sure the shift tunnel will fit. ALSO, I almost forgot, there is one peice that you should replace. It's a plastic peice on the shift linkage about an inch and a half long with a small ball socket on each end. I've seen these things break repeatedly especially if you're a motivated shifter. You'll find it right in front of your firewall just above the tranny in the middle of all your shifter geometry. It's a good idea to replace your bushings while you're there also, the biggest difficulty in that being that the shifter tunnel on the MK2's are above the heat sheild for the exhaust. Don't know about the MK1's.... yet ;). Hope that helps.

You can get the .75 from an FF and it will transfer to the 4k.
Weird combo, really short 1-4 then the stretch to 5th. Whacha building Rick?
