Any diesel gurus on here?

I'd order a new crank gear for it.

If you machine it, you will remove the hardened surface.
The crank is stronger, than the gear, because it's a lot easier to replace.

Could anyone tell me if the early tdi cranks (obd1?) use this same gear?

Would the td's of the 80's and early 90's have the same crank gear as us but
the same diameter as the tdi crank?

Thanks
