Somehow "aboot" got down to Virginia (that's in the US of A). *I* think
I say "about" like everyone else in the US of A, but when I say it I am
frequently asked if I am Canadian. Others ask "Are you from Canada or
Virginia?".

(Maybe some of those Acadians on their way to New Orleans [for the good
food and good jazz] settled in Virginia.)

PS Cathy, I'm not sure that I believe you are really Canadian, but you
can prove it by sending me 3 large boxes of those maple sugar candies
shaped like maple leaves. If they taste great, I'll accept that as
irrefutable proof that you are Canadian.
