My car doesn't like the rain - Terrible Vibrations.

Wasn't that system rubber mounted? ...that would take care of tiny fraction of an inch expansion.

My Audi A4 with a Borla Stainless steel exhaust did the same thing. Get caught in the rain and it'd rattle like you wouldn't believe.
Stainless steel has a much higher thermal expansion rate than mild steel and when you splash it with water it cools off and contracts.
Now exactly why it would rattle when it got wet and wouldn't rattle when the engine was just started and the system was still cold and reasonably just as contracted as it would be if it was wet isn't clear to me.
Must have something to do with the system being very extended from the heat and being "locally" contracted from getting splashed with water on only part of it.
My Audi exhaust was replaced under warranty to fix the problem.
I haven't seen this problem with any of my Sciroccos so I would suspect that it's an alignment (of the exhaust) issue.
