Suprise under the valve cover. Someone explain



The hydro heads that I've seen have 4 cam bearings. Missing the one between cylinders 3 and 4 and there is the little squirter that shows in your second picture right under the cam. Never seen one with only three caps though! 

OTOH, the lifters do have adjustment shims, so it looks like it was converted. Lobe base circle diameter should be 1.5" IIRC with a solid lifter cam, where the hydro cam base circle is ~1.37 or thereabouts.

Wonder how much the camshaft flexes without the bearing caps and the high lift cam?
