I'm going to need more information.  I did find two nice ones on top of 
my pile of crap that are banjo with 3" of steel bent 90? and then 
attached to rubber-covered plastic (heat-fit) that is about 6" long 
which comes back in a 180? bend and ends in another banjo.  Also one 
similar J-shaped about 10" total female thread at the top, banjo at the 
bottom.  But weren't all of the A1s braided?  I think this heat-fit 
style is for A2s but maybe it was used on later cars.  Or these could be 
engine compartment hoses.  My memory is rusty.

Also I tried to look at my MkI OE setup but it has been overgrown with 
hydrangeas and grape vines plus it is hidden by the rear axel so I would 
need to jack it to look at this and that would be a pain if I'm looking 
for an 84+ MkII part.  There are more somewhere if I dig deep.
