Battery cable ruled out

Oh, I understood that, but there has to be something pretty fundamental
that went wrong, I was just wondering if you'd done a regular tune up sort
of deal at the same time. I guess it's possible that some other thing came
up randomly at the same time, like you sheared your crank keyway or
something, but what are the odds? It has to be something that got knocked
loose in and around the airbox. And wiring connections are the most likely
candidates, like: grounds/battery wires (but you checked those), the plug
to the hall sender on the distrubutor, the cold start wiring plug, that
stuff on the DS side of the block. I had a starting issue once that was
from the plugs to the cold start and some sensor (temp?) on the head
getting switched around. Okay, I'll shut up now ;)
