RE: $150 aba here in OH

That was gonna be my next question...
Does somebody make pistons that make the right compression ratio and clear
the valves on the 16V head?
Is the short block otherwise the same, with respect to mounting, fittings,
etc.?

or course, you loose displacement when you start messing around with pistons
to make more compression.

I now feel like I'm wasting space here on the thread, cause I don't really
wanna do a swap on a perfectly good running car, but I'm gettin' curious.
I'm sure you guys musta covered this b4, anyway.

Jim

Actually, I think it's only 7.2:1.
If the ABA head combustion chamber volume is 30cc and the 16V head
volume is 45cc (I think I'm right
here) then the CR would be 7.2.
Too low even for a turbo and you still need valve cutouts to clear
the 16v intakes.

Unfortunately it's not quite that simple, the ABA is an 8V motor
so bolting on a 16v head would
drop the compression to around 8.2:1 at best.
Great for a turbo motor but not so much for N/A you also need to
install a 16v intermediate shaft
to make it work.

This is a nice easy bolt in for the 8v guys but realy requires
new pistons to work properly in a
16v application..... if you do want to spend the cheddar though
it will make some fucking huge
power.
