Re: Slegato, aka "Billy and Gino's Excellent Adventure"

Some day, before long, Mark will get the Slegato here from Marc's. I have
to say, Mark F. is the nicest guy. Regardless, we had a good time waiting
for the tow truck. Scirocco people are such a bunch of whackos, put us in
a group, and we're happy. Even if the plan goes sideways. Perhaps
especially if the plan goes sideways. Hell, if we wanted predictable
lives, we'd be leasing Civics and Camrys.

Later, it's not over yet.....

Predictable life = recipe for boredom... No thanks... :)

... as suspected, the ps front CV is indeed pooched. The ds inner
rear CV is also going to have to be replaced. CAA (thanks Cathy!)
dropped off the ailing Audi coupe at my friend's shop, where it sits
until I can get at it tomorrow... I'll consider having to endure the
tow truck driver's life story and religious propaganda for forty
L-O-N-G minutes punishment for not getting to changing out the noisy
CV when I should have... :)

It figures, the first time in my life (and a fairly large amount of
miles) I get stranded on the roadside, I'm NOT in a Scirocco... Each
time I've been forced to pull over in a Scirocco I've been able to get
myself going - usually by some kind of clever Macyver roadside crisis
aversion technique - give me a vise grip, a coat hanger, and a pair of
pantyhose and I can get any A1 VW rolling again... :) I suppose if
it came right down to it, and I was stranded in a more dire
circumstance I could have jacked up the Audi's front end and tied up
the inner CV flange with some mechanics wire (always in the toolbox)
and at least have been able to limp the car to safety...

Daun, Cathy, and Marc, I'll be heading up to Montreal on Monday or
Tuesday to get the Slegato - I'll let you guys know ... Sorry for the
break down - I guess I was a little too confident in the noisy CV (got
me to Oklahoma and back!), but I just didn't get a chance to do any
work on the car because I was busy pulling off a Monster Garage-like
miracle-complete-engine-teardown-and-ABA/JH/knocksensing-ignition-swap-in-subzero-temperatures
marathon with Sean. The sweet ending to that story - started on the
first hint of a crank, and even settled into a nice idle! Nice... :)

I'm damn tired though - I gotta get to bed - I just figured out I've
only slept 11 hours total since Wednesday morning!

G'nite,

Mark.
