fuel pump

well, the car would turn over but not start. pulled off a
distributor line (fuel) and found that none came out when the car
turned over.

took up the back seat, and found the transfer pump was kicking on
(bridged the fuel pump relay).

pulled the terminal wires off the pump, bridged the relay, and
measured the voltage - got 11.89v

measured AT the terminals on the pump, and got 9v

so i figured the pump had a dead coil that was sucking up voltage.
turned out to be right.

the new pump did NOT come with the copper washers - i may not have
torqued the cap on the output fuel line enough - 15ft/lbs is the
spec, i think.

thanks to Jim Ruffi and Cathy Boyko for lots of good advice (and to
you for recommending the good pump).
