I want to set my Scirocco on fire!

if there is a clog/pinch in the return line (from reservoir to tank), air
will build up in the reservoir over ~15 mins and once enough air collects
the main fuel pump sucks up the air slug and the car dies. once both pumps
stop, fuel siphons from the tank and refills the reservoir.

reason mine did it: return line was pinched between the tank and the body.
turns out this happened during the fuel tank recall/replacement. in my
situation it would only happen on really hot days - the tank would expand
just that much more against the body, just enough to pinch the line shut.

a faulty transfer pump can cause the same effect. i see you replaced yours,
but did you verify that it actually runs?
