cincy and ignition problem

I had this exact scenario happen to me last summer (hours from home,
at Peter's place in Delaware).  Tried swapping the coil, ignition
switch, and other stuff I can't remember, but nothing fixed the
problem.  Since this car was an electrical nightmare to begin with and
was in it's final days, I reassigned the Macyver'ed reverse light
toggle switch on my dash (:D) to be my ignition 'on' switch.  I fed
battery power (first through an inline fuse), through the switch, to
the coil, and used the ignition switch to engage the starter... 
Worked fine...  The weird thing that I had to get used to was after I
removed the key the car still ran until I flipped the toggle switch to
off...  You can always use this method temporarily until you find the
problem...
