Oil pressure sending unit (deluxe 2-output kind) -or- TheBuzzerof DeathT

NEVERMIND.

Eric Saltyweazle had to bonk me upside the head and remind me that there
WERE 2 OEM senders on the 16v and that (for some reason still unbeknownst to
me) VDO decided to use the same dual sender to do TWO different jobs.

In short, when you replace your stock sender on top of the oil cooler, you
are EITHER replacing the HIGH or LOW dummy sensor AND adding the variable
output for a bar gauge.

This new dual sender has reversed the secondary function on me. So I have to
hunt down my other stock sender to pop in. Essentially, the new dual sender
is giving me a second stock sensor that's already there, thus, causing the
error.

Many thanks to Eric the All Wise of VWsR

Thanks for your input Neptuno, and if I may rebut:

on your car you (may) have 3 things that are sending info to the oil gauges,
You have a high pressure sensor on the head where you placed this sender,
>>>>INCORRECT, I didn't mess with that sensor.

then you have a low pressure sending unit that one lives on top of the oil
cooler housing.
>>>>This is the one I replaced WITH A NON-STOCK UNIT. Audi has one on
>>>>their
cars that provides an actual 'bar' reading to an actual VDO gauge. I have
this gauge. As noted, I already have a working one on my car....I swapped it
with this IDENTICAL sender that I just bought.

Both of them give you readings that make your Buzzer go off. If either fails
there goes the light and the buzzer. There are time however that neither is
at fault and what it is then is the buzzer set up itself that lives behind
the cluster...Those go bad and no matter how many senders you put in the
thing keeps buzzing......Oh and it could be some ground...
>>>>Yes, but that's not the issue here......

The third thing that you have hooked up is a temp wire that should also live
in the oil cooler housing in front of the low temp one.
>>>>I know this, this wire was never touched.

Thanks!
