How the fuck does that happen?? I must have driven it like that prior to putting it away...or does shit come loose on scirocco's even when they are still and stored??!! lol After I tightened them up and noticed half my gear fluid on the ground I said screw it and had to get her fired up and on the road to see what else could go wrong.....well my drivers side rear tire rubs on my springs... camber/toe is out I guess.....and I got a fuel leak at the banjo fitting at my fuel filter...yay...so needless to say the drive went without incident and I know what I need to fix now.....at least she fired straight up and purred on the road!!! I love these cars.

A couple of replies in one:

- It has happened to most of us. The loud BANG is common, usually
supplied with the one last remaining bolt bent as it came loose. If not,
chalk in up to luck.

- The blue coating it your friend, it is a form of Locktite.

- The culprit in most all these cases is a lubricant on the treads; CV
grease and/or Tranny lube are the two major contributors. Clean threads
AND bolt holes are key to secure fasteners.

- A quick shot of Brake Cleaner is a good idea just prior to assembly,
has served me well.

- Some Blue Locktite on the bolt threads is also a good idea, almost
mandatory I would say, although Job One is clean and dry everything 1st.

Dems me thinks. Go forth and Scirocco.
