is hd4 the new one?  you may have controller/motherboard/RAM problems...
Wiggle the RAM.

Start again.  Take out the new drives so the new one is C: and then hook
up the others once you are running.  Move the data off and reformat them
later--they may start behaving.  Get sp2 like Allyn said or buy a router 
to act as firewall so you can d/l it safely ($30).
